Announcing the Brand Strategy Kit, a tool to facilitate the branding process for designers and strategists – LIVE on Kickstarter!

Today, we’re very excited to announce the launch of the Brand Strategy Kit on Kickstarter. I invite you to stop by and have a look around.

The idea for the Brand Strategy Kit was born after working with clients world-wide for 15 years now and after organizing the Brand Strategy workshops in various cities (London, Santiago de Chile, Barcelona, Paris, Casablanca, Beirut, etc.).

I wanted to standardize the branding process I was using to help my clients uncover and define their whys, authentic points, target audience, positioning statement, and crystallize the next level for their brands.

Instead of going down the tedious route of creating traditional brand briefs that are full of paradoxes and clichés (‘we want innovative yet trustworthy’; ‘young and dynamic;’ – who hasn’t been there, right?), this Kit enables you to try out a faster and more fun approach which speeds up the branding decision-making process – as well as rests your eyes from the screen time.

Giving birth to this Kit ended up being much longer than expected, but better later than never, as they say!

I’d like to thank my “besties” sprinkled around the world for helping me to make this happen: Aiste, Pedro, Ana, Haley, Carmen, and Marita. Couldn’t have done this without you!

So here we have it. I hope you will support us!

What’s in the Kit?

This Brand Strategy Kit is a modular, flexible tool that saves designers and strategists time as well as head-scratching troubles by making options tangible and concrete.

The kit contains 6 components:

  • The Branding Workbook

  • The A2 Brand Canvas Template

  • 15 Tone of Voice Cards

  • 40 Brand Personality Cards

  • 200 Style Cards categorized into 10 styles

  • The Brand Cards Box

The Branding Workbook

This workbook will take you through a proven inside-out branding process in a step by step fashion. It will show you how to facilitate the brand strategy sessions, uncover the client’s whys, the brand’s authentic points, define the target audience, the positioning statement and set the right direction for the brand’s identity.

The Brand Canvas (A2 Template)

At the end of the process, you’ll have created a Brand Canvas, which clearly communicates a brand’s vision. At this point everyone experiences that “aha” moment of blissful clarity. Using the Brand Canvas it is very easy to get everyone on board for the next move and then put together a comprehensive Brand Brief for leveling up the brand.

40 Brand Personality Cards

A brand isn’t just a product or a service, it’s also a story of who it is and why it exists. The pillars of every brand story are the principles that define a brand’s personality. These 40 hand-picked personality cards will help you to lay the foundation for the brand by defining its guiding principles.

15 Tone of Voice Cards

When shaping a brand’s identity we need to define its tone of voice. These 15 examples of tone of voice with help you to make the right choices fast. Each card’s verso contains an explanation and real-life examples so you could better imagine how each tone of voice will be carried out through copy.

200 Style Cards

We’ve curated the best in design work from around the world and organized it into 10 different aesthetic styles. Using these style cards, you’ll be able to save lots of research time near the computer, discover the trending design work, and create a mood board that visually communicates the design direction for a brand’s identity.

The Brand Cards Box

Your treasure chest, holding all the cards you need to help you shape the brand’s identity.

The Brand Strategy Kit is available for pre-order on Kickstarter until June 28, 2019. Every pledge helps us make the branding process easier and more engaging for everyone – from designers to marketers and clients.

We hope you will support us and won’t forget to take us with you to your next client meeting!

If you have any questions or would like to get in touch, please join our slack channel. We’ll be there to answer all your questions and provide you the support you need.

And don’t forget:

The world is our canvas – let’s plunge in and create!
— e.k.

Thank you everyone for your patience and support along this way! This one was quite a ride…

New Report: Digital Trends in Travel And Tourism

As a commodity, travel is remarkable in its ability to make a life-long impact on us. Sure, a new pair of shoes or a scoop of ice cream from our local gelateria can temporarily soothe and uplift us. But travel has the power to go deeper: prejudices are demolished; new friendships are built; great works emerge (as proven by the likes of Hemingway and Gaugin).

As a digital brand experience consultancy, when we decided to launch our first digital trends and insights report, there was no doubt that we wanted to focus on the travel & tourism industry, since it is very much an experience-driven industry.

In addition, our previous work (with clients like Luxeat, Hotel La Résidence du Vieux Port, Trust & Travel, and Selective Retreats), combined with workshops and presentations at Welcome City Lab (travel & tourism startup incubator), and the 2014 IFTM, had given us the opportunity to learn more about the needs of travel & tourism businesses.

Placing the customer at the center of digital product and service development has always been the guiding principle in our work. So in putting together the report we focused on looking at digital trends in travel & tourism from the perspective of today’s traveler. What sort of societal trends are coming up and how are they influencing travelers? What do people value? What are people seeking more (or less) of?

And on the flip side, how are these same trends affecting travel & tourism businesses? How are travel & tourism brands positioning themselves on the web and on mobile to better respond, and appeal, to today’s traveler? How are brands presenting themselves visually to better engage with their audiences? How is technology being integrated into the travel & tourism experience, and which design patterns are most popular on web and mobile platforms?

At the end of our research, we had an 85-page report that provides travel & tourism brands, and those who serve these brands, with insights and analyses about how the industry is being shaped by societal and technological trends.

These insights and analyses are presented as such in the report:

  • 6 Trends that define our society

  • Innovative uses of web and mobile in travel

  • Positioning trends of travel brands online

  • Web & Mobile Design Trends in Travel

  • 150+ Examples for your Inspiration

We hope the insights provided in our Digital Trends in Travel & Tourism report will fuel your imagination as you design new and exciting web & mobile experiences for today’s traveler. We invite you to peek into these insights by downloading a sample of the report here.
